Now that you’ve just landed in Bangkok at either of the international airports, Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang Airport, how do you go about traveling from Bangkok to Pattaya?
Taxi to Pattaya
The easiest and fastest way to travel to Pattaya from the airport is definitely by taxi. Whether you’re taking a private or metered taxi, this will be the simplest way as they will take you directly to your accommodation. Depending on the company you use and if you book in advance, they may even wait for you outside of your gate with a sign with your name on it.
From Suvarnabhumi Airport
Taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya, the standard rate will be between 1,200 – 1,600 Baht, but can cost anywhere between 1,200 – 2,000 Baht depending on whether you take a private taxi, metered taxi, what company you use, etc. The prices will obviously be more expensive if you request a vehicle with more seats for more passengers.
From Don Mueang Airport
Taking a taxi from Don Mueang Airport to Pattaya will typically be 200-300 Baht more than Suvarnabhumi Airport as it is a bit further away. The standard rate will be between 1,400 – 1,800 Baht, and again, will be a bit more expensive if you book a larger vehicle with more seats available for passengers.
Bus to Pattaya
If you have arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport or even if you’re trying to go back to Suvarnabhumi Airport, then the cheapest option is to take the bus from the Jomtien bus station which is located just next to Food Mart on Thappraya Road. The rate is the same at 130 Baht whether you’re going from the airport to Pattaya or vice versa.
The buses are nearly always on time as people need to make their flights and the buses are air conditioned and comfortable. You can book your ticket online or you can find them at Level 1 in Suvarnabhumi Airport. If you’re trying to get back to the airport you can also book a ticket from their office at the Jomtien bus station.
The only downside is that there is no bus to Pattaya from Don Mueang Airport and you will either need to take a taxi from there to Pattaya or take a taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport and then take the bus.
